The temple was constructed in the 6th century B.C. and its pediment is the only part which survived through the centuries, even though the barbarian incursions, the earthquakes and the various wars had been proved extremely disastrous for Corfu and its monuments.

Corfu Museum of Asian Art was founded in 1928 as the Museum of Sino-Japanese Art, following the donation of Gregorios Manos' Sino-Japanese collection to the Greek state.
