We offer a pottery workshop in Osaka with an English, Spanish and Catalan speaking potter (the explanation can also be done in Japanese). While we talk about Japanese gastronomy and culture, the visitors can experience the traditional way of making pottery in Japan.

The space is located in a house made of wood and earth built 100 years ago, so you can also see a typical Osaka house from before the Second World War.

Osaka: Private Japanese Traditional Ceramics Experience 

Kintsugi, meaning "joined by gold," began in the 15th century when Japanese artisans developed a method of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer and powdered gold, honoring flaws rather than hiding them. Rooted in wabi-sabi, kintsugi evolved into a philosophy that embraces impermanence and the beauty of imperfection.

In this hands-on workshop, held in a real artisan's studio, you'll learn traditional kintsugi techniques using modern materials. Guided by an expert, you'll bond pottery with synthetic lacquer, fill missing pieces with resin, and dust your piece with silver-based gold powder. All tools and materials are provided in a relaxed, focused environment.

You'll leave with your own restored piece and a deeper understanding of Japan's view of resilience and renewal — carrying both new skills and a tangible link to a timeless tradition.

 Kintsugi Workshop: Beauty in Brokenness 

This is a highly recommended activity for travellers to Japan because they can create their own souvenir of their trip. During the workshop, we will teach how to paint with special ceramic paints, and participants will be able to choose from traditional Japanese designs. 

There are also images representing iconic Japanese culture, as well as the possibility to write the person's name in Japanese alphabet.

As the activity is conducted in English, Spanish or Catalan (unlike other pottery-related workshops that do not offer this option), the traveller will be able to ask questions about the country and receive detailed instructions on how to decorate the pieces.

2 Hours Private Painting of Ceramics in Osaka

In this experience, you can freely ask questions and take as many photos as you like during the tea ceremony. You will also create a matcha tea bowl using a traditional Japanese pottery technique called the "kurinuki" method.

The experience includes a small dish as a gift, which you can use to enjoy sweets for tea ceremony at home.

This double workshop is offered in our studio, a century-old two-storey building located in the Ikuno Ward. It is a very local area in Osaka, so exploring around here after the experience would be interesting and enjoyable.

The bowl will be sent to the address provided after 2 months, shipping costs are NOT included in the price of the experience.

Wearing a traditional Japanese outfit called a jinbei, you can enjoy a pottery experience that feels like immersing yourself in Japanese culture. This is a special opportunity to receive careful instruction from an experienced, award-winning instructor while taking in the unique atmosphere of Osaka. Standard Electric Potter's Wheel Experience

The highlight of this tour is that you can enjoy both sightseeing around Osaka and a pottery experience all in one day.

In the morning, we visit Osaka Castle, a historic landmark with over 400 years of history, where you can feel its powerful energy. I will share with you the timeless charm and fascinating history of this beloved castle.

For lunch, we head to Shinsekai, a deep local spot in Osaka, for a kushikatsu hopping experience. To convey this unique fun, we'll hop between multiple shops—the local way to enjoy kushikatsu. Be sure to experience the culture of "no double-dipping" with your taste buds!

In the afternoon, we return to the castle town area for a pottery workshop. The studio is a renovated traditional row house over 120 years old, where the owner shares the joy that pottery brings. Touching the clay will help soothe your travel fatigue. Your finished piece will be fired later and shipped to your home, allowing you to enjoy your travel memories across time.


Full-Day Experience: Castle Tour, Kushikatsu, and Making Pottery

Wear a traditional Japanese outfit called a jinbei and enjoy an immersive pottery experience inspired by Japanese culture.
This is a special opportunity to learn directly from an experienced, award-winning instructor in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

In this course, you will experience the full pottery process—from kneading the clay, shaping your piece on an electric pottery wheel, and trimming it, to applying glaze to a bisque-fired piece.
(The pieces used for trimming and glazing will be prepared in advance.)
